On campusOne of Monash's newest campuses, Berwick was built on the old Casey airfield in the south-eastern growth corridor of Victoria, Australia. The town of Berwick has experienced an influx of people and development in recent times, which includes the new campus of Monash University. With a presence in the area since 1994, the first Monash Berwick campus building was completed in 1996 with the second building completed in 1999.
Off Campus Berwick is a quaint little suburb nestled on the outskirts of Melbourne. It is not the ends of the earth as people may try and tell you... it is a friendly community which is expanding every week. A five minute drive from the university and you'll find Berwick's High Street. With a large selection of cafes and restaurants - you are sure to find something you'll like. There's Thai, Italian, Mediterranean and Australian, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In need of a post office or a newsagent? Head to High Street. There's also a Safeway and a Ritchie's IGA, plus every bank you could ever need. Tuesday is uni night at The Berwick Inn - our local pub! It also attracts a crowd on Thursday and Friday - so be early! Ten minutes down the freeway is Westfield's Fountain gate. There are department stores, surf shops, supermarkets, clothes and jewellery stores, a huge food court and Village Cinemas - as well as restaurants and bars that come alive at night. Our campus doesn't have a medical clinic - so to compensate this, the university has arranged with a local clinic to do bulk billing. This clinic is located at 40 Clyde road, just ten minutes walk. Australian students just need your Medicare card. For international students, the university has arranged with a medical practice in a nearby suburb to do bulk billing via World Care assist. |
