Semester One Comments

Just a few comments from our executives about how semester one went:

President:

Semester one was a busy but successful one for MUBS. We had a fantastic orientation week and consistently engaged students. It definitely got stressful at times but I’m really proud of the work the MUBS team did.
My achievements as MUBS President for semester one include getting the our lounge done, running a campaign to find out about the campus’ future and getting three-year funding agreements back with the university. I also got to amend the constitution (again).
It’s been a great start to 2015 and I’m looking forward to all we can achieve in semester two!
On a more personal note, it’s the last semester of my degree and my last semester of MUBS so I’m going to give it my all. Monash Berwick has pretty much been my life since the start of 2013 and I’m so thankful for that. It’s got a truly special place in my heart.

I hope you all have a successful semester two and I look forward to partying with you at our Frat Party on Wednesday 2 September!

Admin and Finance:

Semester one has been an extremely busy year for MUBS! As this is my third year on MUBS, it's been exciting to see the incredible growth and development of the campus life in 2015. This year there has also been a stronger focus on using SAF funding to promote student engagement, both in and outside of the campus. By placing an emphasis on events that cater to a wide range of student interests, it has allowed the Berwick community to continue to thrive and help reinforce the strong community aspect of the campus. I've really enjoyed semester one and I can't wait for semester two!

Wellbeing:

For last semester, the Wellbeing team worked well together. We had a survival day, in which we had an Aussie Animal Encounter experience. We also had Exam Busters in week 12, in which we gave away free stationary. The breakfasts went well. We changed things up half way through the semester, by including spinach, mushrooms and tomatos. BISA had a successful semester, in which they had two movie nights and a fitness event. They also started to plan One World Festival as well. MAPPS provided a morning tea every week for mature age, part time and post grad students. It went down well with students.

Engagement:

What a first semester we have had at Monash University Berwick. Started off with a bang, O’week as it always is was a crazy week full of entertainment and the chance to meet the people you’ll be spending the next few years around. We had a carnival, laser tag, beach themed party and a Phillip Island weekend camp. All of these were a great success with a lot of first years willing to try some new things and most importantly, have fun! The first few weeks of semester were extremely busy with the whole MUBS team spending time on campus to help show people around and provide answers to any questions people had. Our weekly barbeques on Tuesday’s were loved by those who attended them, we had sausages, burgers, veggie burgers, salads and chips available for all the students, who would say no to free food! Later on in the semester we ran our second party of the year “rumble in the jungle” which was a great success with many people embracing the theme and creating some incredible costumes. Overall it has been an amazing semester and a huge learning experience for myself. Looking forward to the second semester which is hopefully even better than this one has been.
